Puzzle cube mural of Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin (1809–1882) was an English naturalist, geologist, and biologist best known for his theory of evolution by natural selection. His groundbreaking book, “On the Origin of Species” (1859), changed the way humans understand life on Earth, proving that species evolve over time through adaptation to their environment. His studies, especially from his voyage to the Galápagos Islands, laid the foundation for modern biology and genetics.
Darwin almost didn’t publish his theory out of fear of controversy. It was only when another scientist, Alfred Russel Wallace, independently arrived at similar conclusions that Darwin hurried to release his work. His insights not only revolutionized science but also challenged deep-rooted beliefs about the origins of life, making him one of the most influential thinkers in history.
