Rubik’s cube mural of Raja Ram Mohan Roy
Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a social reformer, thinker, and the founder of the Brahmo Samaj, often called the “Father of Modern India.” In the early 19th century, he fought against social evils like Sati, child marriage, and caste discrimination, advocating for women’s rights, education, and religious reform. His efforts led to the abolition of Sati in 1829 by Lord William Bentinck.
An extraordinary fact about him is that he was a polyglot, fluent in Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic, English, and several Indian languages. His progressive ideas on rational thinking, education, and equality laid the foundation for India’s social and intellectual awakening, making him a true visionary of his time.
