Q: What is Pixellated Murals?
A: Pixellated Murals is one of the project of the PixelsForCharity initiative of an NGO named DHARM KARM.
Q: What is outreach?
A: Outreach is the section on our website where we list programs held in public spaces. The goal is to provide slum children with opportunities to interact with the public, helping them build confidence in public speaking and social engagement. Additionally, this section captures public reactions, showcasing how people perceive and support our initiative.
Q: How many children are involved in this program at present?
A: Currently around 147 children are involved.
Q: How many murals have been made at present?
A: As of now, approximately 334 murals have been created, and we continue to add 10-15 new murals every month—so you can do the math!
Q: What big project are we planning next?
A: We are aiming to set a world record for the largest Rubik’s cube mural, using 1,00,000 cubes! This is a massive undertaking, and we need your support to make it happen.
Q: Where is this program being held?
A: The program is being held at Innovative Pathshala, an education center of Innovation for Change NGO. The center is in Bhawanigunj slum in Rajajipuram, Lucknow.
Q: How much time does it take to make the mural?
A: This depends on two things – the size of the mural and the number of children involved. Larger the mural, longer the time. The more the number of children, the less the time taken. But with more children, we have to be extra organized. This is where we have learned leadership skills and the most difficult skill of managing the curious minds.
Q: How do we make the mural?
A: We start by selecting an image—usually a person’s face, since our current murals are of 45×45 pixels in size. We then resize the image to 45×45 pixels to create a pixelated version. Then our Art programmer uses a custom program to map the colors based on the shades available in a Rubik’s cube, ensuring an accurate and visually striking mural.
