Swami Vivekananda (1863–1902) was a spiritual leader, philosopher, and key figure in introducing Indian spirituality to the West. He played a major role in the revival of Hinduism and is best known for his historic speech at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893, where he began with the famous words: “Sisters and Brothers of America.” His speech received a standing ovation and showcased India’s spiritual wisdom to the world. Vivekananda was a disciple of Ramakrishna Paramhansa and founded the Ramakrishna Mission to promote social service, education, and spiritual upliftment.
Swami Vivekananda had an extraordinary memory and superhuman intellect. Once, while visiting a library, he asked for a book and returned it the next day. The librarian was shocked and asked how he finished it so quickly. Vivekananda replied that he had read and memorized every page! His ability to absorb knowledge like a sponge made him a master of diverse subjects, from philosophy and science to history and literature. Even Nikola Tesla was deeply influenced by Vivekananda’s ideas, especially on the concept of energy and consciousness, which contributed to Tesla’s research on energy transfer and wireless power!
