Karva Chauth is a popular Hindu festival celebrated by married women, primarily in North India, to pray for the well-being, longevity, and prosperity of their husbands. The festival usually falls in October or November, on the fourth day of the dark fortnight of the Kartika month. On this day, women observe a day-long fast, refraining from food and water, which is broken only after sighting the moon. The fast is a symbol of their devotion and love for their husbands.
