Guru Arjan Dev was the fifth Sikh Guru and a significant spiritual leader in Sikh history. Born in 1563 in Goindwal, Punjab, he was the youngest son of Guru Ram Das. Guru Arjan Dev is best known for compiling the Adi Granth, the holy scripture of Sikhism, which later became the Guru Granth Sahib. His leadership marked a period of social, spiritual, and architectural growth for the Sikh community. Guru Arjan Dev also oversaw the construction of the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar, a significant place of worship for Sikhs.

Guru Arjan Dev’s life was marked by his dedication to promoting equality, peace, and community welfare. He encouraged Sikhs to contribute to society and emphasized the importance of selfless service. His firm belief in his faith eventually led to his martyrdom in 1606 when he faced persecution under the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. Guru Arjan Dev’s sacrifice became a defining moment in Sikh history, strengthening the community’s resolve to uphold justice, truth, and righteousness.
