Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day is observed on November 24 each year to honor the supreme sacrifice made by Guru Tegh Bahadur, the 9th Sikh Guru. He is remembered for his unwavering stand on religious freedom and his willingness to sacrifice his life to protect the rights of religious minorities in India. In 1675, Guru Tegh Bahadur was executed by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb for refusing to convert to Islam, becoming a symbol of courage, integrity, and selflessness.

His martyrdom not only highlighted his deep commitment to human rights and equality but also established him as a hero for people suffering under religious oppression. His sacrifice is commemorated by Sikhs worldwide through prayers, Kirtan (devotional singing), and processions, as well as by organizing free meals in the Langar tradition. Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings inspire generations to stand up against injustice and to respect the dignity of all individuals.
