Puzzle cube mural of Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi (1869–1948), fondly known as Bapu, was the leader of India’s freedom movement and a global icon of non-violence and truth. He spearheaded movements like the Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement, and the Quit India Movement, inspiring millions to fight for independence through ahimsa (non-violence) and satyagraha (truth and resistance). His unwavering belief in peace, equality, and self-reliance played a crucial role in India achieving independence on August 15, 1947.
Despite leading India’s struggle for freedom, Gandhi never held any official position in the government. His simple lifestyle, commitment to wearing khadi, and belief in self-sufficiency influenced not just India but leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela. His assassination on January 30, 1948, was a tragic loss, but his principles continue to inspire humanity worldwide, making him one of history’s most revered figures.
