Puzzle cube mural of Sir C. V. Raman
Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman (1888–1970) was an Indian physicist who made groundbreaking discoveries in the field of optics and light scattering. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for discovering the Raman Effect, which explains how light changes its wavelength when it passes through a transparent material. His research laid the foundation for modern spectroscopy, which is widely used in physics, chemistry, and medicine.
C.V. Raman was so passionate about science that he established his own research institute (Raman Research Institute) in 1948 to continue scientific exploration even after retirement. He was also the first Asian to win a Nobel Prize in Physics, breaking barriers for Indian scientists on the global stage. His legacy is celebrated every year on February 28th as National Science Day in India.
