National Unity Day, celebrated on October 31, honors the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. Known as the Iron Man of India, Patel played a pivotal role in the integration of India post-independence, successfully unifying more than 500 princely states into the Indian Union. National Unity Day serves as a reminder of Patel’s tireless efforts towards national integration, fostering unity, and his belief in the strength of a unified India.
The creation of the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, standing at 182 meters, located in Gujarat. It was unveiled in 2018 as a tribute to his leadership and his crucial role in India’s independence and unity. This statue symbolizes his indomitable spirit and vision for a united nation, and it serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of unity in building a strong and resilient country.
