Yogi Adityanath is an Indian politician, Hindu monk, and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh since 2017. Born as Ajay Singh Bisht in 1972, he renounced worldly life at a young age and became a disciple of Mahant Avaidyanath, the head priest of the Gorakhnath Math. He later succeeded him as the Mahant (head priest) of Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur. Before becoming CM, he served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for five consecutive terms from 1998 to 2017, making him one of the youngest MPs in Indian history at the age of 26.
Despite being a monk, Yogi Adityanath is known for his strict administrative style and rapid decision-making. Under his leadership, Uttar Pradesh saw the implementation of India’s first Anti-Romeo Squad, a major crackdown on crime, and massive infrastructure projects like expressways, airports, and a booming investment climate. He has also promoted Kumbh Mela on a global scale, turning it into one of the world’s largest religious and tourism events. His governance model has earned him a unique reputation as a “Monk with a Bulldozer”, symbolizing his tough stance on law and order!
