Mural made on the occasion of Sikkim State Day
Sikkim State Day is celebrated on May 16 every year to mark the day when Sikkim became the 22nd state of India in 1975. This day is significant as it represents Sikkim’s transition from a monarchy to a democratic state within the Indian Union.
Before joining India, Sikkim was a kingdom ruled by the Chogyals.
