Abdul Hamid was a soldier in the Indian Army who displayed extraordinary bravery during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. He served as a Company Quartermaster Havildar in the 4th Battalion of the Grenadiers Regiment. His most notable act of valor took place in the Battle of Asal Uttar, where he destroyed multiple enemy tanks using a recoilless gun, despite being heavily outnumbered. His fearless actions played a crucial role in halting the enemy’s advance and ultimately led to a significant victory for India.

For his exceptional courage and selfless sacrifice, Abdul Hamid was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honor. His legacy continues to inspire generations of soldiers and citizens alike. The Indian Army remembers him as a symbol of heroism, and several institutions and memorials have been established in his honor. His unwavering dedication to his duty and his country remains a shining example of patriotism and courage.
