The Aghori sadhus worship Lord Shiva in his most intense and transformative form. They believe in breaking worldly taboos to attain enlightenment and liberation (moksha). Unlike other ascetics, they reside in cremation grounds, meditate on death, and use ashes from pyres as part of their rituals. Their lifestyle is based on the idea that everything is sacred, and nothing should be feared or rejected.

They consume food in unique ways, sometimes even from skull bowls (Kapala), symbolizing detachment from materialism. They practice intense meditation and yoga to overcome human limitations. Despite their extreme practices, many Aghoris are known for healing powers and deep knowledge of Ayurveda and Tantra.
