Uttarakhand Foundation Day: Students Introduced to the Askot Musk Deer
When the children created a puzzle-cube mural for Uttarakhand Foundation Day, they were excited to learn about the rare Askot Musk Deer—one of the oldest surviving deer species on Earth. They discovered that this shy mountain animal is famous for the musk gland found only in males, which makes it one of the most valuable and unfortunately endangered species in the Himalayan region.
The children were amazed to know that the Askot Musk Deer lives at high altitudes, blending perfectly with rocks and forests due to its unique fur pattern. Learning about its delicate habitat and threatened status inspired them to understand the importance of wildlife protection and celebrate Uttarakhand’s rich natural heritage with pride.
