World Sparrow Day, observed annually on March 20th, is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about the declining populations of house sparrows and other common birds in urban environments. Established in 2010 by the Nature Forever Society of India, led by conservationist Mohammed Dilawar, in collaboration with the Eco-Sys Action Foundation (France), the day emphasizes the importance of conserving these birds and highlights the challenges they face due to habitat loss, pollution, and urbanization.

World Sparrow Day, its role in uniting individuals and organizations worldwide to celebrate the beauty of biodiversity often taken for granted. Activities such as art competitions, awareness campaigns, and community interactions are organized to engage the public in conservation efforts. Additionally, the Sparrow Awards have been instituted to honor unsung heroes dedicated to environmental conservation, recognizing their selfless efforts in protecting these vital avian species.
