Outreach activity for the children of the Innovative Pathshala
We conducted an outreach activity for more than 18 the children and youth of the Innovative Pathshala in which they created three mosaics out of 3×3 puzzle cube toys (Rubik’s cubes). We also distributed information brochures and distributed affixed “No Parking” signboards with the visages of the freedom fighters.
Occasion: The 101th anniversary of the Kakori Train Action
Aim: Rekindle the love for our shadeeds, resurrect the memories of their unwavering determination to their cause and provide expose slum children via an outreach activity.

About “Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani”
“Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani” is a project of Sciencekriti which aims to instil nationalism by rekindling the love for our shaheeds and reviving the memories of their unwavering determination and sacrifice for the nation. Through creative and engaging activities, the project seeks to make the stories of our freedom fighters relatable to children and communities, while inspiring them to value the freedom they enjoy today.
Aim of the Programme
The primary aim of the programme was to rekindle love and respect for our shaheeds, revive memories of their unwavering determination and sacrifice, and provide children with an opportunity to learn about India’s freedom struggle through a creative outreach activity.
The programme also sought to:
- Pay tribute to the freedom fighters associated with the Kakori Train Action.
- Make children aware of the courage and sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters.
- Encourage creativity, teamwork, patience and problem-solving.
- Spread awareness among the general public about the Kakori Train Action and the revolutionaries associated with it.
Programme Activities
The “Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani” programme consisted of activities designed to combine remembrance, education and creativity.
- Freedom Fighter Murals Using Rubik’s Cubes
The highlight of the programme was the creation of mosaics/murals of freedom fighters using 3×3 puzzle cubes, popularly known as Rubik’s cubes. The murals were created by 18 talented students of Innovative Pathshala, aged between 6 and 12 years.
The children paid tribute through their murals to:
- Shri Ram Prasad Bismil
- Shri Ashfaqulla Khan
- Shri Rajendra Nath Lahiri
Their work was so beautiful and impressive that it amazed everyone present at the railway station. The activity demonstrated that learning can be made meaningful when children are given the opportunity to learn through creativity, experimentation and hands-on experiences.
They simultaneously engaged with: History + Art + Puzzle Solving + Teamwork + Problem-Solving + Creativity
- “No Parking” Signboards
The response from the public at Kakori Railway Station was highly encouraging. People showed great eagerness and curiosity during the activity, particularly while looking at and picking up the signboards featuring the portraits of the freedom fighters.
The signboards attracted considerable attention, with people taking an active interest in the portraits and the message associated with them. Their enthusiastic response demonstrated that when the stories and memories of our freedom fighters are presented in an engaging and visually appealing manner, they can naturally spark curiosity and encourage people to pause, look, learn and remember.
The enthusiasm shown by the public added to the significance of the programme and helped carry the message of “Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani” beyond the participating children to the wider community.
- Distribution of Information Pamphlets
Informative pamphlets about the Kakori Train Action and the freedom fighters associated with it were distributed among people at the railway station.
Appreciation from Guests & the founder of Sciencekriti
IPF D. K. Dixit, RPF Sandila, took special time to interact with the participating children.
He expressed his admiration for the children’s dedication and remarked that he had never seen so many students so dedicatedly engaged in playing with Rubik’s cubes while learning through the activity.
The interaction also demonstrated how encouragement from respected public officials can significantly boost children’s confidence and motivate them to continue learning and exploring.
Mr. Vijay Kumar Sinha, Station Master, Kakori, appreciated the innovative approach of engaging children in remembering the freedom fighters and learning about the Kakori Train Action.
Mr. Sinha also expressed that he felt sorry that he could not give his full time to the children because of his official duties, which he could not ignore.
Mrs. Preeti M. Shah, Founder, Bala Foundation, was highly impressed by the activity.
She expressed that it was rare to see a school working with children in such an innovative manner and encouraging them to learn through puzzles and problem-solving activities such as Rubik’s cubes.
She found it particularly amazing that the children were able to use a challenging puzzle-solving activity to create meaningful murals of freedom fighters.
Mr. Manish Sharma, Founder, Sciencekriti, was extremely happy to see the encouragement and appreciation being received by the children from the railway officials, RPF personnel and other guests.
He felt that there could hardly be a better opportunity to introduce children to the stories of our freedom fighters—the real heroes of our country—than through such meaningful and memorable activities.
He appreciated the fact that the children were not simply being told stories about the freedom fighters, but were actively learning about them while participating in a creative, collaborative and challenging activity.

Next Step – 3D Tactile Plaque for Kakori Railway Station
As a follow-up to the “Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani” programme, Sciencekriti plans to install/present a 3D tactile plaque featuring the freedom fighters at Kakori Railway Station at the earliest possible opportunity.
The plaque is being conceptualised as an inclusive tribute to the revolutionaries associated with the Kakori Train Action. Unlike a conventional visual display, the tactile plaque will be designed so that it can also be experienced through touch, particularly by visually impaired visitors.
The initiative aims to provide visually impaired persons with an opportunity to feel and experience representations of the freedom fighters through touch, enabling them to connect with their stories and legacy in a more inclusive and meaningful way.
This planned installation will further strengthen the programme’s objective of keeping the memory of our freedom fighters alive while ensuring that their stories and legacy are accessible to people with different abilities.
Sciencekriti intends to take this initiative forward and complete the installation of the tactile plaque at Kakori Railway Station at the earliest.
